BAWIFM curates First Friday Shorts at the New Parkway!

Short films screened every First Friday at The New Parkway movie theater in Oakland as part of Art Murmur.

On AUG 2, BAWIFM curates the Parkway as part of this fun, interactive and engaging night of art, film and so much more!

Film program will focus on local women makers with filmmakers in attendance to answer questions between the screenings.  

The event is free, you can wander in and out, and the New Parkway Theatre offers food and drink while you watch!!

We're pleased to be screening the following short films:

Tarantula Arms, Vita Wolfe

A time-based hula-hoop performance in the brush of California, to the melodic intonations of a song by The Sandwitches, an American garage-folk San Francisco band. (5:31)

Award Winning Girl, N’jeri Eaton

One woman's quest to find love online. (7:29)

Driving Visions, Sara Newens

A visually compelling, fly-on-the-wall look at bikers that offers an almost tangible rendition of the feeling of being on the road. (5:31)

Living Inside Out, Erin Persley

Living Inside Out is an experimental documentary that explores the lasting impact of incarceration by intertwining the experiences of three women going through the reentry process. (22:59)

The Raw, Shantre’ Pinkney

Keith, a young man living in a violent neighborhood in San Francisco, is looked upon to protect a wayward friend. (9:42)

Kuna Ni Nanang (My Mother Said), Jessica Sison

This experimental documentary lyrically portrays 99 year-old Elena Bautista and her reflections on her long life, her mother’s death and her own impending death, which she faces fearlessly. (4:43)

Moonless, Maria Judice

A traveler reluctantly returns to Earth. (7:00)
